Ingredients

Beef Filling
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Choose lean for a lighter option.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to personal preference.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper White pepper can be used for milder flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic also works great!
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Substituting with fresh sautéed onions offers a fresh take.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can serve as a flavorful alternative.
Sandwich Components
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Consider using mayonnaise for a golden exterior.
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Delivers sharp, melty goodness.
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese Brings creaminess and stretch.
  • 4 slices Thick-Cut Bread (Sourdough/Texas Toast) Provides a sturdy base.

Equipment

  • large skillet

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 6-8 minutes or until it's no longer pink in the center, looking browned and crumbly.
  3. Drain any excess fat for a leaner filling.
  4. Once the beef is cooked, sprinkle in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Take your thick-cut bread and spread butter or mayonnaise generously on one side of each slice.
  6. On a clean skillet over medium heat, place the bread slices butter-side-down. Layer each with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Spoon the seasoned ground beef evenly over the cheese on one slice, then add another layer of mozzarella on top of the beef.
  8. Top with a second slice of bread, butter-side-up.
  9. Carefully flip the sandwich once the cheese begins to melt, about 3-4 minutes. Grill each side for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  10. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for about 1 minute.
  11. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve warm.
