For the Cabbage Base
  • 1 head green cabbage
For the Patty Mixture
  • 1 lb lean ground beef Substitute with chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
  • 2 cloves garlic Or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 2 stalks green onion Use shallots as a substitute if preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley Can use dried parsley.
  • 1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes Optional.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup cheese Use cheddar, mozzarella, or any cheese of choice.
  • 1 cup tomato sauce Marinara is recommended.
For Seasoning
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper Freshly cracked for enhanced flavor.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position your oven rack in the middle.
  2. Slice the cabbage into thick rounds and arrange on a rimmed baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, chopped green onion, parsley, red chili flakes, half of the cheese, and seasonings. Mix and shape into four patties.
  4. Spread a tablespoon of tomato sauce on each roasted cabbage slice and place a beef patty on top. Sprinkle the remaining cheese.
  5. Bake for an additional 10-12 minutes until fully cooked and cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes
