Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry mixture and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water into the batter until well combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Beat together the peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth for the frosting.
  8. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold into the peanut butter mixture.
  9. Place one cake layer on a plate, frost the top, and stack the second layer on top, frosting the sides and top.
