Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash about three ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the bananas. Stir until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, sugar, flour, and cocoa powder.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Mix in chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and tap it to remove air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Keep an eye on it towards the end.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
