- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash about three ripe bananas until smooth.
- Add the melted butter, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the bananas. Stir until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, sugar, flour, and cocoa powder.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Mix in chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and tap it to remove air bubbles.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Keep an eye on it towards the end.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
