- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and dust with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together oil, buttermilk, hot water, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing on low speed, then increase to medium and mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for approximately 35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then invert onto a rack to cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, beat together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, then mix in dulce de leche.
- Heat the cream in a saucepan, pour over chopped chocolate, stir until smooth to make the ganache.
- Once cooled, stack the cake layers with dulce de leche filling in between, then pour ganache on top.
