Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped onion and 3 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for about 3–4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  2. Incorporate 28 ounces of crushed ripe tomatoes along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for around 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens.
  3. Add a handful of torn fresh basil leaves and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Stir and let cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Use an immersion blender to blend the sauce to desired consistency, keeping it warm on low heat.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Your marinara sauce is ready to serve!
