Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and brown the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes, then drain excess fat.
- In the same skillet, sauté chopped onion and minced garlic for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Spread cooked ground beef in the baking dish, layer thinly sliced potatoes on top, and season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese and Parmesan over the potatoes, then pour in beef broth and optionally milk.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving and garnish with parsley or chives if desired.
