  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro Enhances freshness and aroma; can omit or replace with parsley for a different herbal tone.
  • 1-2 jalapenos Adds heat and spice; adjust the amount or remove seeds for a milder salsa.
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar Contributes acidity and balance; substitute apple cider vinegar if preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances all flavors; adjust to taste; reduce for a low-sodium option.

  • 1-2 minced garlic cloves Infuses aroma and depth; fresh garlic is recommended for best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Provides warmth and complexity; adjust amount based on heat preference.
  • 1-2 tablespoons lime juice Brightens flavors; use fresh lime juice for optimal zestiness.

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by finely dicing 4–5 ripe Roma tomatoes and a medium yellow onion. Use a sharp knife on a cutting board, ensuring you achieve small, even pieces. Combine them in a medium glass mixing bowl.
  2. Next, take a bunch of fresh cilantro, rinse it thoroughly, and chop it finely. Add the chopped cilantro to the tomato and onion mixture in the bowl. Stir gently to incorporate the ingredients.
  3. Prepare 1–2 jalapenos by cutting them in half and carefully removing the seeds and membranes. Finely dice the jalapenos and add them to the bowl, adjusting the quantity based on your taste.
  4. In this step, add a splash of white vinegar, 1–2 minced garlic cloves, a sprinkle of chili powder, salt, and sugar to the mixing bowl. Toss all ingredients together thoroughly.
  5. Taste your mixture and adjust the salt and sugar according to your preference to achieve the perfect balance of flavors.
  6. Squeeze the juice of 1–2 limes over your salsa mixture, giving it one last toss to incorporate the bright, zesty flavor.
  7. Either serve your Fresh Salsa with Cilantro & Lime immediately with tortilla chips or let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to meld the flavors.
