Step-by-Step Instructions for Dirty Rice
  1. Finely chop the onion, green bell pepper, and celery, then mince the garlic. Set these aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper, cooking for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and celery to the skillet. Sauté these for 5-7 minutes until softened, then stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Sprinkle in the Cajun seasoning, stirring to coat the beef and vegetables. If using diced tomatoes, add them now and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked white rice to the skillet, folding it into the mixture. Stir well and cook together for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley or sliced green onions. Serve hot and enjoy!
