Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, dried basil, and salt until smooth.
  2. Marinate chicken thighs in the marinade for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Let the chicken sit at room temperature for 5 minutes. Heat grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear marinated chicken thighs for 6-7 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  5. Rest cooked chicken for 5 minutes, then slice.
  6. In a large bowl, layer chopped romaine lettuce, avocado, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and sliced chicken.
  7. Drizzle remaining marinade over the salad, season with salt and pepper, and toss gently.
  8. Serve immediately, garnishing with fresh basil leaves.
