  • 1 cake Angel Food Cake store-bought or homemade
For the Custard
  • 2 cups Vanilla Custard or vanilla pudding/yogurt
For the Fruit
  • 2 cups Mixed Berries strawberries, raspberries, blueberries
For the Topping
  • 2 cups Whipped Cream preferably freshly whipped
Optional Flavor Enhancer
  • 1 cup Sherry omit for non-alcoholic version

Method
 

Layering Instructions
  1. Cut the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces and layer half in the bottom of a large trifle bowl. Drizzle with sherry if desired.
  2. Spoon half of the vanilla custard over the cake layer, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  3. Scatter half of the mixed berries over the custard layer.
  4. Add the remaining angel food cake pieces, followed by the rest of the vanilla custard.
  5. Scatter the last portion of mixed berries on top of the custard layer.
  6. Dollop or pipe the whipped cream over the top, creating peaks and valleys for an elegant finish.
  7. Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving.
