  • 1 box Devil’s food cake mix or German chocolate cake mix Ensure it's not a pudding-included mix
  • 1/2 cup Melted butter
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder
For the Topping
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Chopped pecans Feel free to substitute with walnuts or almonds
  • 1 cup Shredded coconut Swap with dried fruits if desired
  • 1 cup Milk chocolate chips Use dark chocolate for a bolder taste

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and egg until smooth. Press into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust for 7 minutes; it should look slightly underbaked.
  4. Mix together the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, chopped pecans, and shredded coconut. Pour over the warm crust, then sprinkle milk chocolate chips on top.
  5. Return to the oven and bake for 24-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  6. Cool completely in the pan, then refrigerate for 1 hour before slicing.
