Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef use lean for less greasiness
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning homemade for controlled spice
  • 2 oz Cream Cheese optional, for creaminess
For the Dough
  • 1 pkg Refrigerated Pizza Dough or Crescent Dough choose based on texture preference
For the Cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese Cheddar, Mexican blend or Monterey Jack
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large Egg beaten for a glossy finish
For Toppings
  • Optional Toppings sesame seeds, bagel seasoning, extra taco seasoning

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Gather all your ingredients and equipment, including a large skillet for cooking the filling.
Cook the Filling
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté a diced onion until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic for an additional minute until fragrant. Then add the lean ground beef and cook until browned.
Season and Combine
  1. Drain any excess fat and stir in taco seasoning with a splash of water.
  2. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened, then mix in the shredded cheese until melted.
Prepare Dough
  1. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Slice the dough into strips, approximately 2 inches wide.
Assemble
  1. Take a strip of dough, place a spoonful of the taco mixture at one end, fold over and pinch seams tightly.
Bake
  1. Transfer assembled taco sticks to the baking sheet, brush with melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Cool and Serve
  1. Allow to cool slightly for about 5 minutes before serving with dips like salsa or sour cream.
