Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, pour in olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, browning for about 7-10 minutes. Stir frequently until no pink remains and season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.
  3. Stir in your tomato sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer and reduce for 10-15 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, and a pinch of salt. Mix until just combined.
  5. In a baking dish, spoon a layer of the meat sauce at the bottom. Layer noodles on top, then dollop ricotta mixture. Repeat with meat sauce, noodles, and ricotta until all ingredients are used.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the final layer of meat sauce.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 25 minutes. Then remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
  8. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
